Dondurma A one-of-a-kind concept in Kuwait, Dondurma is the countrys first quick-service restaurant dedicated to Arabic ice cream. We focus on authenticity in taste and experience, providing customers with the chance to experience traditional Arabic ice cream. Arabic ice cream is substantially different from the standard variety because of its texture and resistance to melting. It is much chewier than the ice cream used in sundaes, gelato or commercially produced ice cream; the unusual texture is due to Salep (Sahlab), the main ingredient which comes from wild orchids. A whitish flour, Salep is milled from the dried tubers of wild terrestrial orchids. Mixing it with milk and mastic adds a thick and chewy consistency to this unique dessert. Ice cream fans will enjoy the traditional flavours, served with a selection of fruit, nut and syrup toppings. They’ll also enjoy the Arabian-themed environment, where Dondurma servers actually make and mix the ice cream in large, metal vats. Dondurma ice cream is freshly made and comes in cup, cone or can be bought by the block; this is a perfect treat for any occasion at home with family and friends.
